Botanical Ayurvedic Soap: How to Make Herbal Healing Soap

Have you heard of the practice of Ayurveda? Have you thought about the ingredients in your commercially-purchased soap? Do you or your loved ones suffer from skin allergies, rashes, or acne?

I’m often asked why anyone would spend the time and energy, let alone the money, on homemade soap when it’s readily available for reasonable prices literally everywhere.

The short answer is easy.

Your skin is the first line of defense against external toxins, and the so-called soap produced commercially does little to support it.

We seldom think of our skin playing an important part in maintaining our health, other than its suppleness. But the truth is that your skin plays a vital, active role in protecting you from the sun’s ultraviolet rays and the environment’s pollutants.

Your skin’s health is directly related to your overall health!

As your largest organ, skin makes up about 15 percent of your body’s weight. While it’s true it’s a great protective barrier, keeping many toxins out of your body, it’s also true that it’s porous and can actually absorb many chemicals. With no way to eliminate them, they can rise to a dangerous level.

I wrote this book because I thought that handcrafted herbal and Ayurvedic soap making was one of the best-kept secrets of our time. And that’s a shame.

I know that if more people understand not only the benefits of herbal soap but the dangers of commercial-bought soap (which really isn’t soap at all), then they, too, would benefit.

Herbal soap has more benefits than you realize.

I wrote this book, therefore, with the beginner soap maker in mind. I introduce you to the difference between handmade and commercially made soap. From there, I talk about the benefits of adding herbs—either Western or Ayurvedic—to the soap. Before I started making soap, I didn’t know much about their wondrous healing powers. Today, I have a small herb garden for use exclusively in my soap.

When I first started this hobby, I was probably a lot like you. I knew next to nothing about it. That’s why I’ve presented four ways of making soap—complete with detailed instructions.

In my book about Ayurvedic healing herbal soap, you will learn:
